NHS 111

 Provide a service for patients requiring medical attention from 6.30pm to 8am Monday to Friday and all day Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays. This will be staffed by doctors and nurses and will integrate with existing services such as A+E, ambulance service and District Nurses.

Services Available 

All the doctors provide General Medical Services.  Some of the services below are provided by our practice nurses.  Please ask the receptionist when you book who would be the most appropriate health professional to see.

Community midwives and doctors provide both antenatal and postnatal care.  Appointments with GP’s are provided within normal surgery sessions.  Attached Community Midwives hold ante-natal clinics on three afternoons each week {presently Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday}.  The practice does not feel able to support home confinement.  Individual cases may be discussed in advance with the community midwife. 

Contraception and Sexual Health 

Comprehensive contraceptive advice and counselling is provided within normal surgery sessions by doctors and nurses.We also have sexual health clinics running at the practice and other local practices in the area. Please be aware the sexual health clinics are not able to give contraceptive advice and you will need to book a routine appointment with the Practice Nurse or your GP.  

Child_immunisationImmunisation

Routine immunisations for children and adults are available and encouraged by the practice. Childhood immunisations take place in the weekly Baby Clinic held by the Health Visitors on Wednesday 1.30pm to 3pm.  The Practice Nurses also provide an immunisation service if you are unable to attend the baby clinic. 

Child Health Development Assessments

Doctors perform routine 8-week developmental checks.  Subsequent examinations at 7, 20 and 36 months are carried out by your Health Visitor. 

Cervical Cytology

All women aged from 25 to 65 are encouraged to have regular cervical smear tests.  These are usually performed by the practice nurse. 

Health Promotion and Preventative Health 

Advice is given in the normal course of surgery appointments. Specific advice is available through an appointment with the practice nurse. 

Circulatory System Disease 

Annual review clinics are arranged and run by the Practice Nurses

Annual review is encouraged and appointment may be arranged with the practice nurse.

Diabetic Checks

Annual review of all patients with Diabetes is standard practice. A diabetic register is kept and all patients will be encouraged to attend for annual review. 

Minor Surgery

Minor surgery, i.e. removal of cysts or small lumps is available through arrangement with a doctor.  

Other Services 

Most medical examinations are not covered by the NHS, e.g. Heavy Goods, Hackney Carriage, Pre-employment and Insurance Medicals.  These can be carried out by arrangement and the receptionist will be able to inform you of the fee involved.
