Appointments – Telephone 842200

All surgeries are by appointment. The reception staff may enquire the reason for your attendance at the practice when you book an appointment so your need can be dealt with in the most appropriate way.

All members of staff are strictly bound by the NHS code of confidentiality so you can discuss your needs with them in complete confidence. Our practice nurses offer a wide range of nursing skills and it may be more appropriate to consult with them for things you may have seen a GP for in the past.

If you have several problems to discuss with your doctor, you may be asked to make a further appointment or you may wish to make a double appointment by informing the reception staff at the time of booking.

Appointments can be made by telephoning 842200 or calling in personally at the reception desk.

If you are unable to attend for appointments please inform us either on line via the website or by phoning as soon as possible so another patient can be offered that appointment. If you are late for an appointment you may be requested to re-book at another time.  

Text Reminders

We have a facility ro remind you about appointments you have booked with us by sending a text message to your mobile phone.  To benefit from this facility please ensure we have you mobile telephone number.  If you do not wish to receive text reminders please let the receptionist know.

Telephone Advice – Telephone 842200

Patients may telephone for advice. If the doctor is in surgery or unavailable you can leave a message to receive a call back when it is mutually convenient or an alternative time for you to ring back may be given.  

Home Visits – Telephone 842200

Home visits are made at the discretion of the doctor and are usually reserved for severely ill or house bound patients. It takes much more time for a home visit to be carried out, consequently, you may be asked to attend surgery if this is felt to be appropriate and this will often result in you being seen sooner.

Requests for home visits should preferably be made before 11am as this allows the doctor to plan visits more efficiently.

Test Results

Please contact the surgery 2 weeks following a test to check on the results, unless you have a review appointment or have already been informed. Enquiries regarding results can be made either at reception or by telephoning 842200 before 4pm Monday to Friday.

Note that the practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection and we will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results.

When you take your test you will be told how long it will be before the results are returned to the practice. It is your responsibility to check your results and to make an appointment to discuss them with your doctor if your are advised to do so.

Chaperones

The practice is committed to providing a safe, comfortable environment where patients and staff can be confident that best practice is being followed at all times and the safety of everyone is of paramount importance. All patients are entitled to have a chaperone present for any consultation, examination or procedure where they feel one is required.

Wherever possible we ask you to make this request at the time of booking your appointment so that arrangements can be made and your appointment is not delayed in any way.

Where this is not possible we will endeavour to provide a formal chaperone at the time of request, however, occasionally it may be necessary to re- schedule your appointment

Your healthcare professional may also require a chaperone to be present for certain Consultations in accordance with the practice chaperone policy.
